Specifically it considered the number of handpumps which are procured from outside the continent for use in SSA, estimates of the number of handpumps installed in African countries each year, existing in-country retailers of handpumps, price differences between international and locally procured handpumps, in-country quality assurance mechanisms and future prospects for improved supply chains for handpump spares.
